Poem of the week: untitled

a child so beautiful
so quite
so young
Never gets out,
never has fun.

a child so little
so small
so scared
just saw dadddy
pull mommy's long hair.

this child so beautiful
so little
so quite
plugs her ears
drowns out the riot.

mommy is screaming
theres so much going on
what is happening?
what went wrong?

daddy is mad
he doesnt care
daddy ur hurting her!
this isnt fair.

she ran to her closet,
and sits so low.
her head between her knees
the tears begin to flow.

before she knew it,
the heavy door slams
and daddy turns
and looks to mommys fans,

"mommy was bad,
she deserved what she got"
still no one understood
why they fought.

plenty days later
daddys' gone for good
mommy is healing
as she hoped she would

and often now you will see
this young scared child
grew up to be

someone strong
someone free
of all the yelling
there used to be.

she now comforts children
and reminds them every day
that somone loves them
every minute, in every way.
